Manchester City will confirm the club record signing of Ruben Dias on Tuesday in a £65m deal.
The Portugal international flew to Manchester on a private jet last night to put the finishing touches to his move to the Etihad from Benfica.
Dias has agreed a five-year deal worth £175,000-a-week and Nicolas Otamendi will travel in the opposite direction to join Benfica in a £13.7m deal.
Dias, 23, completes Pep Guardiola’s 14-month search for a right-sided centre back following the departure of Vincent Kompany last summer.
Etihad bosses are paying more than the £60m release clause which existed in Dias’ previous contract, but the fee is still less than the £80m he has in the current one, which he signed in November 2019.
Guardiola has turned to Dias after being priced out of moves for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez.
